Four New Winners at BeaveRun
Wampum, PA
August 31,
2007 -
The ninth race of the BeaveRun Championship Karting Series season saw four
racers earn their first wins of the 2007 season led by newcomers Killian
Bloat and Jeremy Rice in the Cadet classes as well as Jim Miller and Blaise
Haynes in the Yamaha classes.
Jim Miller has only run a partial
schedule at BeaveRun in 2007, running at the front each time out in the
Yamaha Heavy class. The first win eluded him though until this weekend when
the Hermitage, PA racer came on strong and swept his class winning the Pole,
Heat Race and Final. It wasn't an easy task though as Harry McElhaney
shadowed Miller for much of the day coming up just .3 seconds short in the
Heat and just over .1 seconds behind in the Final.
Competitors in the Yamaha Junior Can
class though were not to be outdone as Ellwood City's Blaise Haynes also
scored his first win of the 2007 season. Haynes topped Kyle Smith, starting
just his second race in the class, and a field that saw a total of seven
drivers running laps under 1:01. The highly competitive class now
boats five different race winners in just nine races.
New Castle's Jeremy Rice made the most of
just his second appearance in a Cadet Kart since moving up from the Kid Kart
ranks, winning the Cadet Novice race. In the Cadet A race interloper Kilian
Bloat made the trip from New York to win convincingly over the stout
BeaveRun Cadet competitors including fellow National drivers Jacob Donald,
Breyton Santee and Trent Walko. The young group of racers in pursuit of the
lead pack set a torrid pace as a total of ten drivers turned laps in the
1:04 range and under.
The Bertil Roos Challenge entered its
second week with competition in the Shifter and TAG races along with Yamaha
Heavy pushing the total number of racers vying for the coveted prize to 33.
The top ten in Challenge points will earn a shot at a Three Day Road Racing
School with Bertil Roos in their F2000 machines.
Michael Moshenek jumped to the top of the
standings with his second straight sweep in the Stock Moto Shifter class.
Moshenek took the top spot on his class while Trafford, PA's Noah Stark won
the overall shifter race and the 125 Shifter sweep - Pole, Heat and Main
wins.
TaG class bonus points were split among
two drivers with Caleb Loniewski setting the fast time in qualifications
followed by Matt Machiko. The two continued to do battle throughout
the Heat and Feature races with Machiko pulling out the win by just over 1
second in each race.
John Burton led a
handful of Briggs Animal powered racers to the checkered in a rare
appearance at BeaveRun for the class. The trio of drivers made the trip from
northeast Ohio to try the 4-cycle package on BeaveRun's long and fast Wilson
Circuit.
A
highly anticipated BeaveRun Double weekend is next on the schedule at the
Championship Series enters the stretch run. Races Ten and Eleven will
take place on September 8 & 9. An open 'sprint kart only' practice is also
scheduled for Friday September 7 from 1-8 making for an exciting three day
weekend. Complimenting the on track action will be the Beaver County Car
Cruise taking place on the BeaveRun grounds on Saturday. The Cruise will
feature hot cars, DJs, games, Fireworks and music from the Vogues.
BeaveRun Karting's own Paar Broer, featuring a few young kart racers from
the Series, is scheduled to play as well. Overnight camping is available at
BeaveRun for this event.
