BeaveRun Debuts Action-Packed Supermotard Motorcycle Racing

Two wheels rule at BeaveRun June 13 - 14

June 6, 2003 (Big Beaver Borough, PA) - Supermotard, a unique kind of motorcycle racing that combines the challenge of road racing with the thrills of motocross and excitement of flat-track racing is coming to the Pittsburgh area for the first time when Supermotard-USA brings the Eastern Supermoto Championship series to BeaveRun MotorSports Complex on June 13 -14. In addition, Round 6 of the Primedia/Moto-Master National Championships is scheduled to run with Supermotard-USA regional events at BeaveRun August 22 - 24.

All Supermotard racing will make full use of BeaveRun's world-class Wilson Circuit, designed by noted track designer Alan Wilson. BeaveRun's unique multi-use facility and diverse terrain is ideal for this type of highly charged form of motorcycle racing, allowing spectators to watch racers' every move through the 24 turns of the purpose-built course layout.

Supermotard racing was first introduced in the United States during the late 1970s. The race series, called Superbikers, debuted as a made-for-TV event on ABC's Wild World of Sports and then gained an enthusiastic following in Europe. Today, Supermotard racing is also rapidly growing in popularity in the U.S., primarily because it is such an exceptional spectator sport. Racers compete on special Supermoto motorcycles-essentially motocross or enduro bikes equipped with street tires, large brakes and other minor modifications. There are competition classes for all machines, from Minis - up to 158cc four-strokes - to Open displacement, and the racing is fierce in every category. Drifting through turns and peg-on asphalt action are the norm. And, rules are designed to keep costs down, which makes Supermotard one of the most affordable racing series anywhere.

Spectator admission is just $5.00 per person and pit passes are available for $10.00 per per person, per day. Kids under 12 are admitted free. Participant camping is $25.00 for the weekend and electric hook-up (for RVs) is $25.00 for the weekend. For additional information, contact BeaveRun at 724.535.1000.
